The ballast water treatment system uses advanced filtration and cyclone separation systems to effectively remove large organisms and sediments during the absorption process. The filtered ballast water passes through an electrolytic unit to generate free chlorine, which acts as a disinfectant to kill remaining organisms. The residual bactericidal substances (TRO) in ballast water during a short ballast voyage (less than 5-7 days) need to be neutralized with a sodium bisulfite neutralizer before the ballast water can be discharged
